Helsinki Central Library

Subtly bridging city centre with main park

Proposal for a Central Library in Finland

Helsinki, Finland
March 2012 – November 2012

Size

10100 m2

Status

International Competition;
Idea;

Bridging education with city activation

For this equipment, our proposal tries to merge the most efficient program articulation with a strong concept. Our building acts as a shifting point between the two demarked city urban network – ancient and modern – merge both, creating a public path that connects to the park while it simultaneously generates the formal composition. The overall intention is to generate a vibrant cultural cluster as an inclusive response to the unique site location and consequently adjust it to the urban fabric block of Toolonlahti.
