Lobito Hotel

In the city of Lobito, with its historic integration with the Atlantic Ocean, we propose the design of a 90-room hotel in Restinga. Functionally, the ground floor concentrates the indoor and outdoor social areas in the centre of the building, flanked by the service areas, which simultaneously serve and protect them. Between the ground floor and the floors of the rooms above, a platform creates not only a formal separation between the public and private spaces, but also a whole landscaped and wooded area for the exclusive use of the guests that act as shading screens for the social areas in the ground floor. The volumes that rest on the platform define the areas of the 90 rooms (in a clear analogy to Lobito’s vernacular constructions), spread over two floors.
