Lyceé Francais Extension

The project is based on an efficient site plan that follows the geometry of radial organization and creates a set of new volumes that, when harmonised with the pre-existences, generates three affirming but distinct bodies that are each complemented with different exterior spaces in the form of open courtyards. The project clearly organizes the essential aspects of the program while seeking to incorporate the plot’s level differences and establish a more natural dialogue with the existing buildings. As to plastic quality, the new buildings exhibit a different type of materiality, however, as a memory fragment, the “brise soleil” system will be used in the façades, not only because this approach already exists in the rest of the school, but also because it is a very effective way to solve the site’s abundant solar exposure.
