The balance of elements
Located in Almada, on Lisbon’s southern bank, the farm hotel project draws inspiration from farm elements, with water as a central theme. Rooms are organized in clusters around gardens and patios. Each piece of land has a unique purpose and atmosphere, inspiring everything around, with different colours and aromas. Individual green spaces ensure room privacy, featuring mostly autochthonous vegetation related to the rural environment. The site, nearly untouched, embraces nature and agriculture, defining colours, textures, and moods. Traditional building techniques and materials enhance sustainability, offering durability, lower environmental impact, and energy efficiency.
Passive design seamlessly integrates daylighting and natural airflows, complementing surrounding vegetation. Elegant material and colour choices, including wood and rammed earth, connect to local history and context. Exposed wooden structures and limewashed walls create inviting interiors. Rainwater collection in clusters supports sustainable practices, while public areas link clusters without compromising privacy. Public green spaces host various activities, such as playgrounds, theatre, and resting areas, transforming the site into a community-friendly venue.
