Formal and volumetric simplification
Settled between two green spaces in the eastern part of Porto, the plot embraces a regeneration and urban expansion process in one of the most prominent areas of the city. In an urban area where the typological diversity and the contrast in scale between the buildings are evident, the design aligns volumes with different elevations, high in the north and low in the south, creating a dialogue with public and private courtyards as central green spaces for connection and enjoyment.

Reflecting the area’s evolving history, the facade incorporates diverse materials, revealing layers of composition; a neutral outer mesh and chromatic ceramic-coated blocks create a dynamic and adaptable facade. Its multifunctionality and dynamism result from an adaptable, alternating module capable of integrating and assimilating various infrastructural output functions.

The interior offers a comfortable, contemporary, and panoramic experience, contributing to the evolving charm of this prominent part of Porto.
The selection of this material is not arbitrary, rather, it is a deliberate attempt to establish a unique identity and relationship with the image of Porto, a city that is notably characterised by the use of tiles.
