Symbiosis between nature, heritage and future
The Barrosinha Agricultural Company project is an ambitious initiative that spans approximately 2,000 hectares. The master plan proposes segmenting the property into nine Operational Management Units (UOPG) structured in concentric rings, with a scheme for tourist occupation, housing, commerce, and leisure. This project transcends mere construction, adopting a coexistence ethos, following the principle of “building without devastating.” Its goal is to redefine the vast landscape of Herdade da Barrosinha, converting it into a new identity in deep harmony with the local agro-forestry heritage. With an avant-garde vision, this urban project aspires to create a significant impact, not just locally but also on a national scale, promoting the Barrosinha as a cultural epicenter and a model for sustainable development and innovation.
At the center of this endeavor is a deep commitment to nature, translated into a meticulous study that balances human presence with absolute respect for the environment. The land analysis considered not only the most careful urban technical assessments inherent in an operation of this typology and scale but also a profound emotional evaluation in the realm of the essence of the place’s memory. This broad knowledge of the human generational bond with the landscape ensured strategic planning on what to preserve and where it would be possible to intervene. The result is an architecture that stands out for its specificity, flexibility, and resilience, ensuring that interventions represent a harmonious synthesis between the past, present, and future.
