In Matosinhos, a new model shop houses some new technological 3d printers, namely a CNC (Computer Numeric Control) which is installed with speed and capacity for modelling large proportions of three-dimensional models for experimentation or presentation.

These tools improve the concept design process, once the digital and physical modelling work almost simultaneously. The CNC cuts negative shapes out of compact mass, usually rigid polyurethane foam board. This particular process allows to work with large dimensions, which is very useful in large-scale projects such as tall buildings or projects with important urban settings.
Combining both software and hardware modelling tools in the production of models, it is possible to optimize the architects work, saving time allocated to the project development.
