How to adapt to the landscape
Situated within an established garden, the plot is home to over 100 ancient trees of notable aesthetic, ecological, and botanical value. The design proposal is rooted in a deep respect for this unique setting. Every aspect of the project — from the way the volume integrates with the landscape, to the spatial organization of the house, and its timber construction system — has been conceived to preserve and coexist with the surrounding ecosystem.
Adopting a modular timber construction system was essential in order to create a house that is fully integrated into its environment and designed with low carbon emissions in mind. Additionally, wood’s thermal properties contribute to passive internal temperature control, reducing the need for artificial air conditioning systems. The fragmentation of volumes and continuity of internal spaces favour cross ventilation. This arrangement allows air to circulate between different spaces, thus controlling the temperature.
